| During the process of career choice, there is always a gap between our idea image and what we could get in reality. Compromise is the bridge that connects these two. So compromise has great effect on career choice. But it was neglected for a long time in the researches related to career choice.This thesis introduces the researches on career compromise based on decision making theory and development theory briefly, and especially introduce the Gottfredson's theory of career compromise and its evolution.In this research, Chinese colleges students, including graduate students and post-graduate students, are used as subjects and 40 occupations are used as materials to test Gottfredson's theory of career compromise. That is to say, when individuals engaging in minor compromise choose occupations, sex-type is first sacrificed, followed by prestige, then by interesting; when individuals are engaged in moderate compromise, sex-type is first sacrificed, followed by interesting, then by prestige; when individuals are engaged in major compromise, interesting is first sacrificed, followed by prestige, then by sex-type. At the same time, the influence of the age, gender and couture to the career compromise order is tested.The results are the follows:(1) Gottfredson's theory of career compromise is not totally proved. Only the hypothesis about the situation of moderate compromise is proved.(2) Under all these three degrees of compromise, prestige is always the most important and sex-type is always the first to be sacrificed. Compared with the western research, in some extent this shows the difference between the east and the west.(3) Accompany with the growing of age, the importance of prestige shows the trend of increasing.(4) When compromise is needed, interesting is relatively more important for men, prestige is relatively more important to women.(5) During the process of career choice, the effect of interesting is not stable. With the increasing of the difficulty of choose, the importance of interesting decreases. |
