With the development of education in our country, in order to adapt to the needs of social development, focusing on cultivating compound talents, many universities set up the minor degree program.After years of attempt and exploration, double degree education in our country has become a common pattern, gradually formed the scale.Many undergraduates who have learning capacity may choose a major in another discipline as minor during their college days.Those students will get the minor degree certificate,if they complete the course tasks and pass the dissertation.Comparing to students enrolled in only one degree, those who have minor degree courses get more learning experiences.Based on Gottfredson’s theory of career circumscription and compromise,this study used qualitative research methods,selected 10 students in S University. For a in-depth interviews,five of them were tutored with follow-up study for nearly half a year. In this paper,the writer tried to study the life experiences, the family background,the factors of circumscription of the participants, to analysis the reason why they chose a minor degree,to find how the participants’ career self-concept may change due to their minor learning experiences.The study found that social constraints and family restriction are main factors of career circumscription which the double degree students are facing.The common values and industries requirements are the most important among the social constraints.Among the factors of family restriction,parents factors is critical.The double degree students think joining a double degree program is an attempt to breakthrough environmental restrictions.The double degree learning experiences promote one to define his or her career self-concept.The research think that the Chinese and foreign focuses on different career circumscription factors. College students in our country believe career circumscription that they face are mainly external constraints,instead of the internal factors like career interest,career gender roles.This difference shows people pay more attention to individual’s personality in western culture.But Chinese expect more for the identity of others and the society’s approval.In addition,this paper discuss the reason why college students choose to join the double degree program.In my opinion,the college students treat the double degree program as a Positive, higher expected return strategy.Not affecting the mainmajor,the students can gain more abilities,achieve more career information,and help to explore vocational interest and improve career cognition.
