The purpose of the study was to investigate the differences of subjective well-being level as well as the four factors of SWB, including evaluation of school, family satisfaction, peer relationship and self evaluation between junior high school students in urban areas and rural areas. A questionnaire was constructed to survey on 556 junior high school students in urban areas and 521 junior high school students in rural areas who were randomly selected from Sichuan Province. The statistical analysis used includes one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients analysis and Independent-Samples T test. The major findings include(1) In general, the junior high school students'SWB level is comparatively high.(2) There were significant differences in SWB between junior high school students in urban areas and rural areas; moreover, there were significant differences in terms of family satisfaction and self evaluation.(3) There were significant differences in SWB between students of different genders in general. As to the four dimensions, there were significant differences in family satisfaction and peer relationship between students of different genders.(4) There were significant differences of family satisfaction between female students in urban areas and rural areas.
