Not only does the new curriculum reform in China bring teachers in the elementary and secondary schools new ideas and methods in teaching practice, but also challenge them greatly. On the whole, the new curriculum reform demands teachers survey their present knowledge and skill structure in order to remedy and perfect it pertinently. On the basis of researches of the status quo, teachers'professional qualities are reported not to be enough for the reform, which thus urges improving and developing teachers'professional qualities to guarantee the implement of the reform successfully.This dissertation started with the challenges teachers face in the reform, and analyzed the status quo of teachers'professional quality structure. After that it probed into the ideal one a teacher should be provided with for the reform, guided by the principle of teacher specialization and combined with the reform target. Therefore, this research put forward that in teaching practice the professional beliefs, spirit, knowledge and skills, as well as personality are the essentials of an ideal teacher's professional quality structure. Among them, the professional beliefs in teaching directs teachers'practice and also orients the reform, while the professional spirit motivates teachers'practice and energizes the reform likewise.
