Content: With China entering the WTO and bidding to host the 2008 Olympic Games successfully, the talented persons who know foreign languages ( English mainly ) and master their specialties will become the precious for Chinese development in this new century. And implementing Bilingual Instruction in colleges and universities is an effective way to realize this goal. But we can' t just copy foreign advanced experience in Bilingual Instruction. Compared with the language environment of western countries, English in China is foreign language - we even can not call it second language because it doesn' t belong to the mainstream. This thesis aims at searching after a proper bilingual teaching model for Chinese undergraduates. It analyzes the feasibility of bilingual instruction in our colleges and universities from the aspects of theory and practice, as well as some problems we should pay attention to. Based on analyzing information, asking students to fill out questionnaire and having many discussions with students and teachers, it exposes some problems of bilingual teaching in colleges within Jiangxi province and has a discussion about the countermeasures aiming at these problems. This thesis put forward such suggestions as language-level-distinction teaching mode, proceeding step-by-step bilingual teaching mode, making full use of modern education techniques and conducting bilingual teaching according to principles of seeking truth from fact and step-by-step. In part four, the author also points out some hidden dangers in bilingual education so as to focus the attention of the academic circles and further better it together in our country.
