Since 1990s of the 20th century, the information technology has been developed rapidly; especially the development of the multimedia technology attracts the world's attention. With the increasing maturity of multimedia technology, multimedia teaching has become a major feature of modern education; multimedia teaching represents the development direction of the modern education. Sharing and easy exchanging are two characteristics of multimedia teaching. The advantages of multimedia teaching are: lively teaching resources can fully mobilize the students'enthusiasm and initiative, raise the efficiency of classroom learning, improve the quality and efficiency of teaching. It can help with the realization of individual education. It can be fully realized the teaching ideas as a teacher-led, student-centered mode. It can promote the reform of teaching methods and teaching. It can help the teachers and students with the basic computer knowledge and the basic skills of training operation. It can improve the quality and abilities of teachers and students in educational technology, to make sure they will adapt to the demands of the 21st century also called the Information Age. Implementation of multimedia teaching will also facilitate the building of teaching resources and teaching environment. So, multimedia applications will cause a fundamental change in the teaching process. It will also lead to profound changes of education thinking, teaching concepts and teaching theory.Multimedia teaching is a necessary means for quality education. In the traditional teaching of history, history teachers are often in view of textbooks. So students became containers because they accepted the knowledge passively. This way of learning makes some students are not interested in the history lessons and it severely constrained the formation and development of the students'creative thinking. Further more it will have a negative impact to their lives learning and the way of thinking and practical approach. This also runs counter to the requirements of the times and the goal of quality education. Implementing quality education not only needs educational and conceptual changes, but also needs to update the technology education. So, as the mainstream educational technology, multimedia technology is used in teaching and it will become an effective means of quality education. At the same time, it'll bring a strong impact and effects to teaching modes, teaching contents, teaching methods, teaching methods, etc. Finally it will lead to changes in the educational system. The main contents include six parts. First part is the introduction that explained the reasons for the study and the theoretical value, explained the practical significance, and described the current situation of the study and the existing problems. Second part is about multimedia technology and the teaching of history. This part explained the theory of multimedia technology and multimedia teaching.
