The traditional Chinese medicine theory system was formulated in the Chinese ancient times, being influenced by the profound philosophy of that time throughout its development. The characteristics of Chinese medicine discipline had decided that the cultivating styles of the traditional Chinese medicine colleges and universities are different from other disciplines that originated from the modern scientific foundation, and that it must have own distinctive characteristics and principles. For the students in traditional Chinese medicine Universities, the passage from 18 to 24 years old is the crucial time of their all-around development. The schoolwork weighs heavily on the students of traditional Chinese medicine colleges and universities; therefore their life is relatively unitary and dull. Their bodily growth, the psychological quality and the professional choice are all moving from immaturity to maturity, from the indefinite to the definite. The cultivating requirements and the teaching contents must be formulated according to the college students'physical and mental development characteristics, and can promote their healthy growth. This article unifies the characteristics of the students in the traditional Chinese medicine colleges and universities, consists of three chapters to have a preliminary discussion about the cultivation and education of the students in the traditional Chinese medicine colleges and universities.Chapter I is the review of this article. First, it reviews the history of traditional Chinese medicine education. In the ancient times, the traditional Chinese medicine education system always had two coexisting education ways—the government-operated school and the private school, taking the private school as the main body. From the late Qing Dynasty till the Kuomintang government, the traditional Chinese medicine encountered the huge impact when the western science penetrated eastward, the debate over whether Chinese medicine saves or abandons continues for decades, the Chinese medicine education has only depended on some minority associations or personally- opened organizations to maintain itself. After the liberation the higher Chinese medicine education has been brought into line with the national higher education system officially, and the Chinese medicine education has presented the prosperous scene and trained the large quantities of Chinese medicine specialized talented scholars. But In recent years, the "westernizing" tendency of Chinese medicine education was serious, and there are many problems in the education system, urgently awaiting to be solved.
