Research And Practice On Character Development In Senior Chinese Edueation

Scientific revolution and technological progress benefits the mankind in many ways, yet at the same time inevitably brings about the loss of human sense of value and character. The Party Central Committee. country leaders and other men of insight in the education field appeal to the society the significance of strengthening the youth's morality education. The recent round of curriculum reforms also gives top priority to the education of students' character. Only when each subject pays special attention to its function of shaping students' character can our character education be truly effective. As a subject of humanities, the Chinese subject has special advantage in building up students' character. Thus this thesis makes a profound exploration on the theme of how to bring the character education into fully play. The thesis consists of the following parts:The preface gives definitions to the so-called "character" ," character education" and "character education in Chinese teaching", and points out the importance and means of research on this thesis.Chapter One analyzes the survey questionnaire and finds out that the character education in Chinese teaching in senior high schools suffers from five major issues, including low reading levels, the lack of true feelings in students' composition, simple teaching methods, incomplete characters of some senior high school Chinese teachers and the lack of students' identification with some parts in the textbooks.
