With the Chinese curriculum widely applied in high middle schools, our society sets a higher requirement to Chinese college entrance examinations. Exploring the assignment characteristics and studying the scientific and effective assignment methods has become an urgent issue. As we all know, modern Chinese reading occupies an important position in Chinese college entrance examinations. To study it is helpful not only to make modern Chinese reading scientific in its content and form, but to develop the new curriculum and know how to teach modern Chinese reading efficiently.According to the elementary theory of Educational Measurement, based on Chinese college entrance test of all previous years and the related analysis or comments, this thesis studies Chinese college entrance tests by statisticsing, comparing and analyzing, especially does an analytical research into modern Chinese reading in the Chinese college entrance tests from 1985 to 2005The thesis deals with modern Chinese reading in the following aspects: the development train of Chinese college entrance modern Chinese reading test; the relation between modern Chinese reading assignment and Chinese syllabus, Chinese test program and Chinese teaching materials synchronously; inquiry into the problems and the changes in Chinese college entrance test assignment by taking samples to find out how to strengthen the scientificity of its assignment further.Modern Chinese reading in Chinese college entrance tests should satisfy the need on the standard of which the talented person is selected. According to the characteristic of Norm-referenced test, it should be assigned scientifically and fairly. It should enhance test questions, give prominence to Chinese curriculum goals' integrity, stress people's sense of language, and examine students' gift for Chinese learning from the context as far as possible. It should truly reflect the request that senior high school students should be examined in the reading ability and the overall qualities.
