As a modern country of migration, Australia is known for the harmony and stability of society, which are due to Multiculturalism Policies. These policies show respect on the cultures of the minority and the Immigrants, and advocate that multiple cultures shall coexist and develop together. Then compared to America and Canada, the multicultural education in Australia has its own features, with the purpose to form its own Australian culture. Specifically, the first one is to fight against prejudice and discrimination. And the second one is multi-ethnic.Curriculum is the way to bring Educational theory into practice, while curriculum design and implementation improve the development of educational theory and policy. So multicultural education merges into teaching by multicultural curriculum, which transmits the belief to the students. Then on the basis of study on multicultural policies and theories, we can go further to know the detail about the development and design of multicultural curriculum.The paper discusses the theory, modalities of Australian multicultural curriculum design and development as well as the practice. The first part includes background culture, features, orientation of innovation and teacher education on multicultural curriculum, besides the theory. The second part elaborates in four aspects. The first one is the resources. The second is the progress of development. The third one, the assessment and feedback and the last is culture of the curriculum. Afterwards, the paper gives us vivid description on curriculum design and development of the foreign culture and the local one by choosing two models separately. Finally, it shows the significance of the development of multicultural curriculum in China.Wish there is chance to make further study.
