There have been increasing discussions on relevant issues of career development nowadays, however, there are few works addressing such issues associated with a certain group of people. The author conducted a case study on the group of "small potatoes"-normal school students graduated in 1996 in Jiangxi province.After giving a overview of the graduates, the dissertation in the main part focuses on three of the graduates. It describes their career experience, analyzes the career events affecting the career development and generalizes three different career patterns-harmonious career, conflicted career, and dual career.As a conclusion, the author outlines the characteristics of the three career patterns, and the main factors affecting career development- early life experience, choice of normal school, matching of personality and occupations, career development stages and personal policies for teachers. She also reflects the whole research process, and give a research outlook for the next step.This paper is organized into five chapters.Chapter one is the brief introduction of the paper, introducing the origination and present situation and methodology concerning such study, and the general background of the subjects studies in this paper.Chapter two, three and four are respectively devoted to the analysis of the three individual cases, in each of which there are three sections respectively focusing on the growth experience of each graduate, significant events of career development, and the motivation mechanism of career development, reflecting and analyzing in overall aspects the course of career developments of such three graduates and the affecting factors involved therein.Chapter five is the conclusion and reflection of the study, discussing the main factors affecting career development of the graduates, reflecting on the process of studying and envisioning the prospects of the follow up study of the field.
