Mathematics in context is the situation in which somebody engages in mathematics activity and gives birth to mathematics action. Receiving the information provided by mathematics in context, students will think them over, associate them with something else they know well. Then they will find the intrinsic connection between the quantity relation and space form of two things, and they will put forward mathematics question, research the question, and finally find strategy and method to solve the question. Meanwhile, they will undertake an active emotional experience understanding the external world better with newly acquired knowledge.On the one hand, designing mathematics in context can meet the need of mathematics teaching. Designing mathematics in context can make students find mathematics laws by themselves, acquire mathematics knowledge and understand it during the course of doing mathematics exercises. On the other hand, designing mathematics can arouse students' curiosity and excite their desire to acquire new knowledge, and make students study mathematics on their own. This is helpful for developing cooperative and inter-respective relationship between teacher and students.Because we have realized that designing mathematics in context is so important under the guidance of the new curricula idea, it is extensively studied in these days on how to design appropriate mathematics in context in the course of using the new mathematics textbooks published by Beijing Normal University Press, find the advantage of the textbooks, and make better use of it with understanding. The experimental textbooks published by Beijing Normal University Press are typical in introducing a new concept or a new law by designing mathematics in context. The dissertation takes the mathematics textbook(I) for seventh grade for an example, clarifies the purpose and significance of designing mathematics in context. The status of designing mathematics in context at home and abroad is investigated with methods such as reference method, action method, cases method, and so on, and the important role of designing mathematics in context in junior middle school mathematics teaching is emphasized in the dissertation. Several problems existing in the practice of designing mathematics in context are discussed particularly, the fundamental and some items teachers should pay attention to when they design mathematics in context for seventh grade students are put forward. The author combines the teaching material with how to apply the mathematics in context such as true-to-life situation, experiment situation, game situation, story situation, problem situation, and so on to mathematics teaching. In the cases, we can find that designing mathematics in context do run in effect in optimizing students' cognizing frame and exciting students' study interest.
