The problem of students having difficulties in learning troubles educators from every country where compulsory education is carried out, and more concentrations are needed in the popular and urgent subject of changing some of those students into average or even excellent students by solving problems caused by themselves in order to meet the current trend of comprehensive improvement in educational quality. Every individual student differs in respect of intelligent factors and non-intelligent factors. Experts and our colleagues have unanimously agreed that the intelligent factors are not evident in academic education. Therefore, it is impending and necessary to change students having difficulties in learning by means of altering the non-intelligent factors. This article is intended to explore from the perspective of non-intelligent factors: current situation of the non-intelligent factors influencing students having difficulties in learning; factors influencing the development of non-intelligent factors of students having difficulties in learning mathematics; the differences in terms of non-intelligent factors between students having a good command of mathematics and those having difficulties in learning it; the effective ways in improving the non-intelligent factors influencing students having difficulties in learning mathematics. To offer answers to these questions, the author investigated 127 students (59 males and 68 females) chosen from Jiu'quan High School by taking measures of questionnaire. Besides, 27% of the third-year students ranking ahead both synthetically and in mathematics are chosen, while with the same method 27% of the students, from the same grade and ranking ahead in their previous two years are chosen, from which 27% ranking ahead throughout the three years are finally chosen and defined as excellent students, so that comparison could be made. The result of the investigation indicates that the non-intelligent factors influencing students having difficulties in learning mathematics are low in general. Differentiations are not obvious in the motive in learning between students having a good command of mathematics and those having difficulties. However, the former perform better in terms of cognizant interest, ardor in study, perseverance in study, stability of concentration, stability of emotion and disposition of emotion, while worse in terms of anxiety of study. Based on the investigation, 5 students were chosen to be tutored through the methodology of case study in order to find the effective way to improve the non-intelligent factors influencing students having difficulties in learning mathematics. Conclusions drawn herein is that employ the principle of emotional education to arouse the enthusiasm of students to learn mathematics; make proper assessment on students' performance to preserve their activity; help students to achieve success and therefore enhance their confidence through multi-way assistances; show up the value of mathematics to awaken their motives.
