Within a traditional novel classroom teaching, we tend to overlook the novel's overall teaching and the students' principal role. In the process of teaching, the novel is dismembered into fragments. In order to meet the needs of teaching, we divide the whole and cram the so-called language points to students, which, at the same time, make it impossible for the students to give full play to their principal part and for the novel to present its charm, the functions such as its rich aesthetic influence and moral education etc, have been lost as well.The article focus on the drawbacks of the traditional novel teaching approach, makes it clear the its stylistic features and connotation, follows the requirement of the "New Curriculum Standards" , puts forward the subject of "The Practice and Study on Novel Self-learning Teaching Patterns in Junior high school classrooms" with the purpose of changing the situation of teachers' dominating class, thus really establishes the students' principal position so that teachers and students can share fiction charm. And the article tries to demonstrate its feasibility from such aspects as the implementation of the "students-centered development" thinking; the reflection of differences between individual students, the emphasis on the unique feelings and experience of student, the diverse means of interpreting novel reading and the freedom for reading novels.According to independent language self-study and teaching theory at home and abroad, combining with the actual situation of teachers and students in the school where the author has been working, the article puts forward the basic objectives and long-term objectives of the subject. On the basis of self-practice, as well as the physical and mental development features of junior students, the article constructed a self-learning teaching mode, which consists of reading and speaking teaching---writing and speaking teaching---acting and speaking teaching---retelling and speaking teaching -watching and speaking teaching ,meanwhile, it summed up four teaching strategies : the students playing the major part with emotion into games, good relationships between teachers and students, cooperative learning and inspiring evaluation.The novel self-learning teaching mode in junior high school classrooms realized an objective transition from "teacher's teaching" to "student's learning", laid emphasis on a full exchange between students and the text, students' attitudes toward study switched from "I am forced to study" to "I want to study " ,emphasized on the guiding role of teachers and created a democratic, equal, cooperative teaching atmosphere. To implement the novel self-learning teaching mode and make classroom teaching more effective, we should pay attention to the following five aspects : self-study does not mean no purpose of the exercise; In the course of the teaching practice ,changes in the roles of teachers and requirements to teachers themselves; If teachers are unable to give students adequate time for reading and thinking, it will be a mere formality; Since the question design is not truthful, open and inquiring, the independent study might lose their effectiveness; Taking into account some objective factors, we should properly handle the relationship between self-learning and passive learning.
