| Owing to the restriction of students' physical and mental characteristics and the background of Chinese education, many factors which influence the performance of new curriculum come into being . Among these, the reading problem attracts our attention. Concerning that reading in the class is mainly carried out and instructed by the teacher in the class, and outside reading occures under an disordered condition. Therefore, the author investigates the circumstance of reading outside the class among the students in Longnan district and at the same time. She proposes some suggestion to deal with this problem. The research is carried out by applying questionare and investigation.The research found that the outside reading of the junior students in Chengxian,Longnan city features the followings:(1)the outside reading is influenced by schools' cultural circumastance and shows a tendency towards following the marjority.(2) class teaching and outside reading is influenced because of the students' examination-centred reading and pursuring the current achivements.(3) senior students of unstable families and those who are taken care by their grandparents at home are in a kind of negative state without any reading on the whole.(4)whether the students' reading is guided by the teachers or parents and the ways of guiding directly affect the reading result.The results are showed as follows:1,The objective factors which affect the middle school student' reading are:(1)double measures of value from orientations towards formal education and informal education.(2)the deficiency of reading materials. (3)the conflict between the public education and self-development.(4)the attitude of the school authorities and teachers.(5)the literate level of parents and their recreation ways.2,The subjective factors are:(1)the attitude of students towards their teacher.(2) the awareness of students towards the reading outside the class.(3)the students' reading ability.(4)the reading methods.The text brings out the counterplans and some suggestions to solve the problem.These are:(1)conduct the social propaganda and guide our society, especially the parents and teachers, to support this action.(2)establish the powerful secure system in school and different educational departments and make full use of bookstores, libraries and communalities.(3)change the evaluation system and advocate "green" evaluation and construct the perfect evaluation system.(4)guide and urge the students and guide the students' way of reading.(5)actively on initiative the students' own form the good reading habits.(6) create the better reading surrounding and improve the effect of reading.(7) encourage the students to read outside the class and cultivate their reading ability. |
