The six plenary session of the sixteenth central committee of the communist party of china has passed " Decision on constructing socialist several important issues of harmonious society of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China ",then the development of the social work has been paid close attention, and we need urgently more and more talented professionals of social work, the social work will be one of the system arrangement for building the harmonious society .we can see that the spring of Chinese social work has been coming .Before that the Ministry of Labor has issued "the national social worker's job standards", the National Personnel Department and the Ministry of Civil Affairs have issued "Appraise temporary provisions in social worker's job level" and "Assistant's social work teacher, social work division's job qualifying examination implementing method" in common these days, It indicates the social work in China has already begun to enter the professionalism, specialized, standardized track formally.The function of social work is to regulate social relationships, prevent and solve the social problems, and to promote the people to accommodate to the society. The concept of "modern social work" originates from America, it is more than 100 years when the concept was addressed. The education of American social work which starts from charitable institute to high point of departure and high standard (master degree course), has been accepted by most of the universities. Through the discussion and development, especially the combine of theory and practice, social work has been developed to a more perfect of worth principle, method and actual situation system.Because of the different conditions of different country, there are many differences on commitment, content, aim and position of the social work. However, the essence of the social work is "Help others and help yourself", it is all the same around world. And they all work for the welfare for the society and work in order to improve the living standard of people. The social work is the safety net of the U.S.A. and it is the relief pressure valve for constructing the socialist harmonious society in China.There are a great many of cases about the social work for China and the USA, but there is little systemic comparative research. I have been to America to study for two months when I was studying for the master's degree, and I have some obscure comprehensions about the theory and practice of social work in America, so I got to the comparative study on the education for social work.Practice of social work is the origin of theories of social work education.
