Credit system is a teaching system which has the credit as its measurement unit for calculating the learning hours in class. Students need the required amount of credits to graduate.It suits for the students differences and meet the requirements of the students in their personal development. The implement of the credit system in secondary vocational schools is the need to deepen the education and teaching reforms, to promote the innovation of educational and teaching system and to develop sustainably.Since 1996, there have been a great number of secondary vocational schools which have carried out the credit system experimental work. After a few years′practise, these secondary vocational schools have made some progress in the study and practice of the credit system. But there are some problems in the application of the credit system.Based on the analysis of these problems this essay elaborates the connotation, the basic features and the developing process of the application of the credit system in our country, analyses the present situation of the credit system applied in some secondary vocational schools, sums up some experience, make some contrast with some developed countries to get some revelations on the credit system and gives some useful advice on teaching management, students′management, curriculums, teachers and teaching conditions under the credit system.
