Popularity and internationalization of higher education make further competition among universities and colleges . Promoting the competence of universities and colleges in our country becomes the focus of people. Therefore, a high tide of research on the core competencies of universities and colleges is raised. The core competence of universities and colleges is the ability based on knowledge resources that can make universities and colleges obtained sustainable competitive advantage. According to the recognization knowledge is becoming the most important strategic resources of organization increasingly , Knowledge Management is a new management theory. In this article, Both of them are connected together in order to look for much reasonable management model of the kind to help universities and colleges win in the competition. In the article, from the knowledge characteristic of the core competencies of universities and colleges, the essential connection of Knowledge Management and the core competencies of universities and colleges is discussed and the reason that why the core competencies of universities and colleges in China is weak generally from the view of Knowledge Management is discussed too, then the ways of promoting the core competence of universities and colleges are described as following:Creating good knowledge environment to promote the cultural ability; Forming the good organizational construction and system construction to promote management ability; Founding the knowledge base to promote the knowledge production ability; Setting up the knowledge alliance to promote the resources integration ability.
