With the advent of knowledge economy, the value of knowledge has being increasingly prominent and the knowledge management has become important measure for the cultivation and promotion of the core competence. University is the base for knowledge production and talent training. It has become a determining factor for the future successful competition that whether university can integrate the internal and external knowledge resource and improve the capability of organizational learning and knowledge innovation through knowledge management. The research of university's core competence from the perspective of knowledge management is not only suitable for our national development strategy, but also needed for the improvement of university management level and the realization of sustainable development. Therefore it has important theoretical and realistic significance.Based on the analysis of the connotation of knowledge and knowledge management, this thesis delves into the meaning and characteristic of knowledge management. It confirms that the knowledge management is a process composed by four links——knowledge learning, knowledge integration, knowledge sharing and knowledge innovation, and a dynamic integration of idea, system and technology. Based on the analysis of related concept of the core competitive power, the thesis discusses the meaning, characteristics and components of university's core competence and believes that the core competence is an organic system with strategic resources as its foundation layer, three major functions as the carrier layer, core competence as the core layer, its core elements include learning ability, operating capability, innovation power and cultural strength.The author thinks that university's knowledge management and core competence have coupling relationship through interaction between the elements. The process factors of university'knowledge management, i.e. knowledge learning, knowledge sharing, knowledge integration, and knowledge innovation have coupling relationship with the university's core competence, while the component factors of university'core competence, i.e. learning ability, operating capability, innovation power and cultural strength have the coupling relationship with the knowledge management. In terms of the operational mechanism of university'core competence, knowledge flow, intellectual stimulation and knowledge innovation system can effectively achieve the regulation and the benign interaction between knowledge systems so as to realize the goal of improving core competence.Through the empirical analysis on some domestic university, the thesis verifies the inner link between the knowledge management and the component factors of university'core competence. On this basis the thesis establishes the system for evaluating the university'core competence and makes a fuzzy comprehensive evaluation for the core competence of China University of Mining and Technology by using the fuzzy mathematics method and obtains the evaluation result of'strong'. Through the case analysis and reference of university rankings, this result is roughly identical to the actual situation.At last, based on the dynamic integration of idea, system and technology of knowledge management, the thesis comprehensively explores the strategy and measure for cultivating and promoting the learning ability, operating capability, innovation power and cultural strength in university. To strengthen the organizational learning and promote the learning ability, its strategy mainly includes strengthening the organizational learning, building collaborative learning mechanism, establishing knowledge base. To strengthen the strategic integration and upgrade the operating capability, its strategy mainly includes propelling strategic management, optimizing structure of organization and integrating strategic resources. To strengthen the knowledge innovation and boost creative ability, its strategy mainly includes promoting the idea innovation, deepening institutional innovation and advancing subject competitiveness. To strengthen the cultural strategy and raise the cultural strength, its strategy mainly includes embedding the school education with culture, cultivating university spirit and constructing cultural campus.
