This paper aims at probing into the strategy about how to carry out Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in high school. The sustainable development is inevitable in the present world while ESD is an important measure of carrying out the sustainable development, which attracts the worldwide attention as a brand-new task in the 21st century. The purpose of ESD is to cultivate the new generation equipped with the consciousness of sustainable development, which affects the future development of mankind. Based on literature research and demonstration analysis, this paper points out the importance and urgency of cultivating the student's consciousness and behavior ability of sustainable development, analyzes the knowledge factors of sustainable development in geography and considers that geography is a major subject in carrying out ESD in high school. Against the status quo that there exists limited periods and the big pressure of entering a higher school, this paper puts forward seven feasible measures of carrying out ESD, offering some illustrative education cases to make them more practical and useful for reference. It is hoped that this paper can be instructional to the theoretical research and practice of ESD so as to help to carry out ESD in middle school.
