In the days of curriculum reformation, we have found an indispensable problem that teachers are being in dilemma. On one hand, teachers are placed on high hope. People think the success or failure of curriculum reformation is finally determined by teachers' comprehensive quality and professional ability. On the other hand, most middle school teachers are facing many difficulties and problems because of our national conditions, historical tradition and the pattern of training teachers. Especially in curriculum consciousness, curriculum knowledge and the ability of developing curriculum. At present what can embody the openness, epochal character and comprehensiveness of curriculum is supplying and expanding the present teaching materials, but how many teachers could be satisfied? The development of society requires that education must be adapted to it, and education reformation drives the middle school teachers into dilemma. How to make them stay away from the dilemma? The only way is the professional development of middle school teachers. The key is that middle school teachers should be "researchers". Therefore, they need to change their traditional way of teaching, establish new educational and teaching idea and finally become "research-professional teachers" from "experiential teachers" or "teaching teachers".At present, many middle schools take "educational research' as an important term that could improve their scientific research level and promote their teachers' professional development. Many middle school teachers are doing educational research, so do many middle school geography teachers. Then, what is the situation of educational research by middle school geography teachers? What forms do they choose? What difficulties do they meet? What role could it play in promoting their professional development? We take the situation in Changning District as an example and try to find some reasonable answers for the above questions in this paper. We expect this paper could help middle school geography teachers' research. This study's research method is the combination of literature research and investigation research.
