It's of theorical and practical value to introduce critical period as a new idea to chemistry teaching in middle school and study it under the background of the current curriculum reform.on one hand,the research into critical period in middle schools will enrich and develop the critical period theory and moreover ,not only will teaching activities performed during the critical period contribute to the improvement of teaching effects and raising the learners' accomplishment in the chemistry course,but give free rein to the talented students' latent abilities,fostering new students for colleges,so that the chemistry new curriculum will be enforced smoothly,resulting in pushing on quality education in China in an all-round way.On basis of the critical period theory,knowledge of development psychology and brain science,this paper presents the critical period exisiting during the course of middle school chemistry teaching and learning and the characters related to it,and touch the approach to performing teaching activities in the critical period through the analysis and studies in new chemistry curriculum.
