Research On English Task-based Teaching Method Under The New Course Background

The aim of English language teaching is for communication. Task-based teaching is a new kind of teaching method initiated by "English new course standard". It is to set a task and let the students learn the language while accomplishing the task. This kind of teaching idea is different from the traditional one that separates grammar teaching and words teaching. What we value in task-based teaching is the ability of the students and their strategy used while accomplishing the tasks and their communication with each other. The aim of this essay is to help our English teachers be guided by the theory of task-based teaching, searching the ways to improve students' ability of using English to meet the demand of the society.This essay includes five parts. Preface writes about the background of the essay and the theory based. The first part introduces the background of how task-based theory comes into being and its based theory. The second part writes about the advantages and disadvantages of task-based teaching, referring to its definition, types and the principles of designing. The third part explains how to carry out this teaching method in classroom, including its teaching steps, and groupwork. The fourth part talks about the evaluation in task-based teaching. The fifth part raises the problems teachers should pay attention to during teaching. At last, an example is given to explain how to use. task-based teaching in English teaching .
