With the promotion of the first and the second phases of curriculum reform,teachers' teaching concept,teaching methods and teaching mode are constantly upgraded,which puts forward higher requirements for students' English learning.At the start of 2008,the author's school adopted a version of Oxford teaching material.In the process of teaching and learning,it is found that the traditional teaching model can not fully applicable to the new teaching materials,teachers need to improve classroom teaching,change the teaching mode and teaching strategies,so as to improve the students' interest in learning and classroom participation,improving students' pragmatic competence.Therefore,the author launches the research on task-based teaching model.This paper explores the present situation of task-based teaching at home and abroad based on the literature research,and reviews the related theories of task-based teaching.The author of this paper adopts Willis' s framework for task-based teaching,analyses the school conditions and learning situation,carries out the case design and teaching practice of task-based teaching.The paper puts forward three hypotheses: 1)taskbased language teaching can improve students' interest in learning and classroom participation;2)task-based language teaching can improve teachers' professional skills;3)task-based language teaching can improve students' achievement and comprehensive pragmatic competence.In the process of research,the author carries out questionnaires and interviews for both the teachers and students,tries to find out the condition of task-based teaching in the school and whether it is suitable to try task-based teaching for the students.Through the study of the experimental class and the controlled class,the author verifies the rationality of the three hypotheses.This paper uses the methods of literature research,questionnaire and interview,explores and practices task-based teaching in primary school English classrooms which focuses on the textbooks of Oxford English.This research aims to help more English teachers to carry out the task-based teaching design,puts forward constructive suggestions to teaching,and improves the teaching mode and method to promote the learning interest,classroom participation rate and the students' comprehensive ability.
