The innovative teaching of mathematics in junior middle schools, under the guideline of the basic principle of innovative education, is a new teaching method pursued in the process of the nation' s teaching reform.It includes the following aspects: 1. its main theory is the creation of educational ideology ; 2. its objective is to help students study, live and create; 3. its basic operating procedure is "creation of context-probing of guideline to learn-independent solution" ; 4. its core is the construction of student-centered teacher-student relationship; 5. its main teaching tactic is heuristic method and opening method 6. its highest standard for appraisal is the improvement of students' ability to think and create, which is in accord with the value direction of quality education.In the new standard of courses, the present study lasted from September 2005 to July 2006. The objectives were the students in grade three in junior middle schools. The single-factor test design was adopted. Through the carrying out of innovative teaching, a teaching system that represents the variety of teaching methods, the openness of teaching space, the individuality of students' study, the practicality of after-class study has been established. Thereafter, observation, test, investigation, appraisal, and confirmation of the differences between the class tested and its rival class in terms of work report, interest in study, cultivation of innovative thinking have been made possible. According to the findings, it is concluded that innovative teaching of mathematics in junior middle schools can arouse students' interest in study, improve their work and their ability to think originally. It plays a significant part in cultivating students' spirit and ability to create , and encouraging teachers to take part in the teaching reform initiatively and actively as well.
