Some teachers excessively emphasize on drawing skills, and explained that was out of parents' pressure; Some teachers pay more attention to children's free expression while ignore drawing skills. In fact, both of the practices disobey the developmentally appropriate principia.There were three primary purposes of the present study: The first one was to reveal the relationship between the performances of children's occlusion drawings and children's space representation; The second one was to reflect the the art education in preschool educational circumstance by observing art courses in kindergarten and art training class; The third one was to find out parents' and teachers' viewpoint on art education by interviewing young children's parents and teachers.The mainly research methods adopted in this study included experiment, observation and interview. A sample of 120 young children was randomly selected from four ordinary preschools in Shanghai. Every subject was tested individually and has accomplished all studies. The objects of observation were art courses of one kindergarten and one art training class in Shanghai. The whole courses were recorded. Several parents and teachers were interviewed randomly, and what they said were noted or recorded.The main results of experiment studies were:1) children above 5 years old had the desire to represent the fact of one thing behind the other thing, and created various ways to represent.2) from 4 years old, more and more children loyally selected the pictures which mean the two objects were touching, just as the models.3) over 2/3 5 and 6 years old children correctly reappeared the model according to the picture.All of the results indicated that children from 5 years could well understand the space information of pictures and the bad performance on drawing maybe because of the lacking of necessarily drawing skills.The main result of observation was:1) in good art education practices, the teaching of drawing skills naturally existed in every aspect of courses.The main results of interview were:1) parents have gained more information about children's drawing than decades ago, however, their comprehension were superficial.2) the deficiency of the cooperation between families and kindergartens was responsible for the parents' little understanding of preschool art education. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | painting, occlusion drawing, drawing skills, developmentally appropriate, art education | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
