This thesis explores the changing roles of junior high school English teachers in classroom under the background of the new curriculum. For the purpose of the research, the changing roles of junior high school English teachers in classroom are discussed under the background of the new curriculum. Then a questionnaire is distributed and an investigation is done on the status of the changing roles of junior high school English teachers in classroom. Finally some problems in the process of teacher's role change are identified and an attempt has been made to deal with the issue involved by some suggestion..The thesis mainly consists of five parts. Part one is made up of four sections, in which the aim, significance, methods of the research, some basic concepts and the structure of the thesis are particularly dealt with. Part two presents a theoretical basis of this research and the history and status concerning the changing roles of teachers. Part three discusses the necessity of role changing of junior high school English teachers and reorients English teacher's classroom role under the background of the new curriculum as controller, organizer, prompter, assessor, participator and resource. Part four focuses on the analysis of two questionnaires. The last part draws a conclusion of the research and makes some suggestion related to role changing of junior high school English teachers in classroom.
