The teacher is the key factor in implementing quality education. With the reform of basic educational curriculums, the teachers in primary and middle schools are required to keep up with social development, change their educational concepts and change their roles as quick as possible . They should help promote students' development instead of passing on knowledge only. They should create curriculums instead of merely using them. They should establish a partnership with the students on the basis of teaching and learning .They should be a researcher in stead of a practitioner in teaching. However, due to the impacts of such factors as society, school and family, there are still some problems in the practice of education and teaching. The way in which teachers have adapted themselves to modern education is not the same as society expectations. In the process of identifying, accepting and playing new roles, teachers have the problems of psychological adaptation and conflict, which will be reflected in their educational concepts and teaching practices.Taking the above factor as the basis of research, the questionnaires received form the teachers in primary and junior middle schools. According to the questionnaires, and with the help of interview, observation and so on, we took on investigation and analysis on the state and limiting factors of teachers role changes in a new curriculum setting. The results are as follows: some teachers in primary and middle schools still misunderstand the educational concepts, and they cannot adapt themselves to curriculums; some teachers professional quality, especially in areas of educational research and educational self-evaluation, needs to be improved; schools' evaluation on teachers also affects teacher s role changes. In order to strengthen teachers in professional quality, speed up teachersrole changes, and prepare teachers for comprehensively and effectively carrying out new curriculums, we have put forward three opinion and suggestions, which provide a reference for all of us. Firstly, the normal educational system should be improved as soon as possible to assure high quality of normal school students. Secondly, the staff training should be strengthened to build an open, mobileteachers educational system. Lastly, a promotion system in which all the teachers will take part in the curriculum reform should be established and perfected.
