Modern educationalists view school education as an activity of life communion and spirit communication between teachers and students, a dynamic process in which learning and teaching are closely interwoven. New educational ideas need for a new teaching space, in which an aura tinged with richness, flexibility, openness and interaction will supersede the barracks-style arrangement that ignores student's personality and hinders information exchanges, thus to promote the development of "new teaching space".We classify teaching space two species according to physical angles and social angles in order to the Definition of teaching space. Physical teaching space is the classroom and it is a place which the teaching activity carried on. Social teaching space is the field of teaching and learning interaction and the field is full of the life energy.The paper carry out its analysis of the field of teaching and learning interaction: time-the dimension on the field of teaching and learning interaction; teacher and students-the main body on the field of teaching and learning interaction; information-important factor on the field of teaching and learning interaction; emotion- the soul on the field of teaching and learning interaction.Teaching space characteristics. From different levels and the point of system, sociology and nature, potentiality and controllability unfolds the paper. The deeper meaning and influence of teaching space on teaching are analyzed from the position of both students and teachers.The paper carry out its exposition of the optimization of teaching space on the basis of definition, exploring the characteristic and significance for teaching space. First of all, several theories basis for optimization of teaching space is discussed: Maslow's level theory of needs, Lewin's field theory and group dynamic theory, environmental load theory. Secondly, the principles ofoptimization are discussed. Then, several Strategy for the optimization of teaching space art advanced: develops thought space of the teacher; establish selfjcomprehend space for student; balance the informational space moderately; teacher's and students' emotional space interact harmoniously; shorten the time distance through teaching art.
