As in the 21st century knowledge-based economy emerged and took the dominate place, social progress and economic growth are increasingly dependent on the knowledge and talents. With the further development of quality education, art education in the universities has the obligatory responsibility to cultivate the teachers in the middle-school art education into those with sound professional knowledge, all-round ability.However, the system of art education in the normal universities actually follows the model in the professional art institutions. Either the teaching contents or the arrangement of the curriculum focuses on teaching professional knowledge. Thus, they ignore the most fundamental characteristics of art education in the normal education----demonstration, which deviate the practical requirement of art education in the middle schools. This situation leads to a bad result: the teaching curriculum of art education in the middle schools cannot get complete implementation. Therefore, this paper will make a study on how the arrangement of art education curriculum in the teaching colleges matches the system of art education curriculum in the middle schools. This paper will be divided into five parts as follows:The first chapter will elucidate the contents of art education curriculum in the middle schools. They include the idea of the new curriculum reform, the nature and value, and the features. They analyze the text books (from grade7 to grade9) published by People's Education Press, People's Art Publishing House and Hunan Art Publishing House as well as the aspects which further researches of art education in the middle schools should focus on. . The second chapter will make a research on the present conditions of arrangement of art education in the teaching colleges. It includes analysis and comparison of art education curriculum in the teaching colleges from China. It also introduces the art education curriculum in the teaching colleges from American, Japan, and Taiwan, and further makes a comparison and analysis in terms of history.The third chapter makes a comparison of text books in the teaching colleges and middle schools. On one hand, we will make a comparison of course structures in the middle schools and teaching colleges. On the other hand, we will make a comparison of text books in the middle schools and teaching colleges. What's more, we will make a research on the suitability in the two levels through the analysis of questionnaire.The fourth chapter we will clarify the measures to art education reform in the teaching colleges. Those measures go like followings: to make an intense study of Pedagogy, psychology and teaching methods to the art text books; to value the practical courses of art education; increase the number of teaching practices in the art education; to focus on learning information and information technology of art education.At present, arrangement of art education curriculum was different in the teaching colleges and middle schools. Therefore, the research results of this paper may provide some suggestions to establish a more scientific curriculum in the art education courses. It will be helpful to cultivate highly proficient teachers responsible for the art education.
