Course evaluation is a very important part in the field of course studies. Since the first dissertation on course evaluation in 1988, there has been great progress in the study of the course evaluation. A huge amount of fruitful researches have been achieved. However, those researches were based on the courses in the high school and the primary school. Are those course evaluations based on the elementary education applicable to higher education? How could course evaluation effect on higher education in term of promoting course reform? Few people have done a systematic study into them. Thus it is significant to study the application of course evaluation theories from the view of higher education. This thesis is to explore the course evaluation of higher education, based on the national best courses project, employing methods of literature analysis and demonstration study.This thesis includes two parts: theory and practice. In the part of theory, mainly it is to find the theoretical support, to clarify the related concepts, to find out the history and development of course study in and out of China. Those research achievements will be summarized and briefly introduced, such as the 6 types and 9 modes of evaluation. In the part of practice, it is to study methods, modes, principles and features of the course evaluation, based on the national best courses project. In the way of comparing with the advanced and mature evaluation methods and modes in other countries, drawbacks and defects are pointed out. In the current course evaluation system of the best courses project, it is usually administration-oriented with simple evaluation standard, subject, methods and measures. Reasons are found out for those drawbacks and suggestions are also given specifically on how to improve them. That is, the improvement shall be centered on the pluralistic development, emphasizing on the diversity of the subject, object, standard and methods of the evaluation, so that a scientific course evaluation system will be constructed reasonable.
