At present, as the important aspect of educational equity, people have already attached importance to the equity of men and women's educational opportunities in our society. Clearing up the gender inequity of course and teaching is an important criterion to achieve the equity of men and women's educational opportunities. Primary school and junior middle school is a crucial moment for students to form their acceptable gender concepts, so embodying the sense of gender equity in the textbooks is important. Chinese is a major subject in primary school and junior middle school, and it concentrates the main stream of gender culture. So studying the gender tendency in new edition junior Chinese textbooks is the issue that we must treat earnestly in the new round reform of basic courses.At first, it conducted systematical statistics and specific content analysis of gender tendency in new edition junior Chinese textbooks of the People's Education Press. Analyzing sex quantity proportion of characters and chief characters in the texts and the drawings, occupation distributed limits and quantity of both sexes, ability and temperament of both sexes, gender role in family, we may safely draw the conclusion that women are all along in inferior position. At the same time, contrasting appearance frequency and occupation of both sexes in the latter edition of the People's Education Press with its earlier edition and the new edition of the Suzhou Education Press, it can see that the latter edition is progressing in the aspect of gender issue and it equally matches to the new edition of the Suzhou Education Press. We also find that the quantity of texts which use women as the leading characters need increasing.Secondly, the main reasons of gender tendency in Chinese textbooks are the socialization of gender role, the cultural underground of editors and writers, the prejudice of editors and writers, and the negligence of the specialists who are responsible for revising the teaching materials. Making a further analysis, we find that the unhealthy gender tendency has negative influences: first, it is not good for female students to form acceptable sexual concepts; second, it is not good for male students to form acceptable gender concepts; third, it is not good for women to foster a lofty ideal; forth, it is not good to establish a harmonious society.At last, knowing that gender inequity in textbooks has a negative influence on students, it put forward that textbooks should be revising in the standpoint of gender equity. For example: the editors and writer's acceptable gender concepts should be formed; gender issue should be attached importance to in teaching; textbooks' function of cultural communication should be enhanced; more families and social forces should join to support. And the characters of modern independent women, new gender roles of modern families should be increased. Only the textbooks extensively disseminate that both sexes are equal and helpful in the society and families, can the students form broad and perfect awareness of gender roles.
