The Research On The Achievement Motivation And Attribution Of Lanzhou Female Soccer Players

Achievement motivation is the internal motivation that when people aim at success during doing the task. It is the most important psychological characteristics of a professional athlete. As participants in sports, especially high level players, their dominant motivation is achievement motivation. Attribution is the process that the reasons of others and themselves' actions are explained and concluded. Numerous researching results have showed that attribution is the key factor attributing to the level of achievement motivation. So this subject for the study of female soccer players in Lanzhou on the basis of investigation and literature research uses psychological measurements to carry out research and analyze on the level of achievement motivation and trend of attribution, in order to provide the relatively objective psychological training basis for Lanzhou female soccer players.In this research, the scales that psychological measurements using are The Achievement Motive Scale (AMS) and Causal Dimension Scale (CDS). The results show that Lanzhou female soccer players in the pursuit of success are in a low motivation, the motivation to avoid failure is high, which lead to a lower level of achievement motivation in the overall result. The achievement motivation does not show the significant change with the athletes' age and training time, but the data show a different trend with the changes of them. Achievement motivation is related to players'education, athlete level and locations on the field. In the comparison with the national female soccer players who have the same age (>17 years old group) , the same training years (≥5 years group), the same athlete level(the first level players), the same locations on the field, the motivations for success of most Lanzhou female soccer players are lower than the national female soccer players, while the motivation for avoiding failure is relatively higher, which lead to the whole level of achievement motivation is not high. The attribution of Lanzhou female soccer players presents that it trends to be internal, uncontrollable and stable when they face success or satisfaction with the result of match. While the attribution trends to be external, uncontrollable and instable when they face failure or dissatisfaction with the result of match.
