In recent years, with the development of higher education in our country and the reformation of the charging system, the number of impoverished undergraduates in colleges has been increasing rapidly either. Now there are more than three millions of impoverished undergraduates. Such phenomenon has received care from all over the society. Both the country and colleges take many measurements to solve the economical difficulties of impoverished undergraduates. However, there are so many impoverished undergraduates that such measurements are still not sufficient enough. As a result, this problem will still exist for a long time. This research made a rational investigation of sophomores and juniors of five colleges in Nanchang: Jiangxi normal university, Nanchang University, Nanchang engineering college, Jiangxi modern college, Jiangxi College of foreign languages and foreign trade. It actually sent more than 2,000 requiring papers, and got 372 samples of impoverished undergraduates (in which there are 185 boys and 187 girls), 1484 non-impoverished undergraduates, whose average age is 19.85. The purpose is to examine the contemporary status of the mental health of impoverished undergraduates by investigation and actual research, and the inherent relation among the factors which influence the mental health of impoverished undergraduates. Then, a system of methods could be got to efficiently improve their mental healthy conditions. The results show that:Firstly, the mental healthy status of impoverished undergraduates is worse than non-impoverished undergraduates. Secondly, there shows no evident difference of the recently academic possible selves and the future academic possible selves between the impoverished and non-impoverished undergraduates. Thirdly, there are evident sexual differences but no evident urban and rural differences in the mental health of impoverished undergraduates. Fourthly, exercises could efficiently improve the mental health of impoverished undergraduates. Fifthly, cognitional behavioral treatments have great effects on improving the mental health of impoverished undergraduates. Sixthly, the comprehension of exercises and cognitional behavioral treatments is more effective than a single interceptive method. The mental health status of impoverished undergraduates is not optimistic, and should receive cares from all over the society. The country and colleges should take more measurements to maintain the mental health of the weak group of impoverished undergraduates. And this is very important to maintain the normal development of the higher education of our country and the stability of the society.
