There is a natural relation between discipline construction and major construction. A good interaction of them is considered as a key to effectively solve the controversy and conflict presented in discipline construction and major construction in institution of higher learning, which aims to solve the problem of the "two skins", promote the process of sharing high-quality resources in both discipline and major, and improve the quality of personnel training .Therefore, it is an important problem which is urgent to be solved for undergraduate discipline colleges in terms of constructing a new mechanism to help discipline and major construction and transforming the limited high-quality discipline resources to high-quality undergraduate discipline resources. In this thesis, some concepts concerning discipline and major are differentiated. Present conditions and existing problems in the discipline and major construction are also analyzed. It is showed that there is either difference or similarity between discipline and major, with knowledge chains as their natural relation. For this reason, there is accordingly a natural relation between discipline construction and major construction. The former is viewed as a means to promote discipline level, while the latter is supposed to improve the level of running schools. This relation displays in their common pourse which is to promote the process of sharing and moving the knowledge in discipline and major, and enhance the level of discipline and major construction. So it is necessary to implement systematicalconstruction of "discipline-major" that makes disciplines and major co-existing. Meanwhile, according to analysis,there is natural relation of knowledge chain between discipline construction and major construction. The development between discipline construction and major construction can share and exchange the high-quality academic resources. On the other hand, the systematical construction of "discipline-major" includes discipline system construction and major construction system, with characteristics of un-balance, openness and internal coordination. Thus, the task is mainly to reveal the problem of coordination and co-existing in discipline construction and major construction with coordination theory and knowledge chain model, analyze evolution models, restrictive factors, motive mechanism in discipline and major construction, and finally put the theory into practice, taking the systematical construction of "discipline-major" in Guangxi University as an example.
