The handicapped is an important part of the population of one country. They are also important members of a society. From the perspective of the development of individuals, education is more important to the handicapped than to any other group of the society. Only through education can they really attain self-reliance and independence, make contributions to the society, participate equally in social life and live a happy life together with all the other folks of the society.Physical education to the handicapped students can equip them with basic methods of physical exercise, enhance their personnel hygienic habits, improve their physique and health level. It can equip them with basic methods to compensate for their limitations both in body and in psychology and facilitate their recovery in this aspect. It can also establish their spirits of self-esteem, self-reliance and independence, form their consciousness to maintain their own legitimate interests and develop their basic abilities in adapting to the society.To promote the comprehensive development of the special physical education of Kaifeng, this thesis attempts to study the current situation of physical education in Kaifeng's special education schools, using such research methods as paper test method, conversation methods, material collection method and statistical collection method. The contents involved in the research include the general situation of the development of the special education schools in Kaifeng, the status quo of teachers, the fields, equipments, the teaching and after school physical exercise in these schools. It analyzes the physical and psychological features of different kinds of handicapped children and their demands in P.E. The research shows that: Since the adoption of the Reform and Opening policy, the special education cause in Kaifeng has made great progress. Now there are altogether 9 special education schools in the city, with an enrollment of about 700 students. As an important section in education, physical education has developed quickly. But with the development of the modern society and a new round of educational reform, the physical education in these schools has lagged behind. The sports teacher unsealing 9 houses of special education school of the city at present is sufficient in quantity , have deep love for special educational work and there is certain working experience, but the specialization degree is deficient to some extent, the teacher of sports major lacks and specially teaches training, and specially teach the teacher whose speciality graduate how to lack sports to train. The scale of the school is small, and disparate development, sports place apparatus facilities are scarce, can't reach the construction criterion of special education school that the State Education Commission issues. The sports syllabus of the school and sports teaching material lag behind, there is partial and much general content of courses of sports, but there is less special content of courses of sports related to the fact that improve the disabled adaptive capacity of student's society and correct and compensate its physical and psychological defect . Greater difference exists on sports teacher's understanding that evaluate disabled student's sports achievement method and content, the evaluation method of the sports achievement and content diversification, some contents and methods can't totally accord with different kinds of disabled student's physical and psychological characteristics . The motive that disabled student's sports of the school is participated in is mainly to train every physique , master ABC of sports and technical ability , strengthen the emotion among the person-to-person contacts and cultivation classmate's friend. Different kinds of disabled students all like watching and participating in the sports match , treat the content of courses of physical education and organize the way to have different demands, but there are less sports events for students to choose at present, can't totally meet students' request According to the physical and psychological features of different kinds of handicapped students, this thesis proposes several different intervention strategies. And it has also proposed corresponding development strategies to the problems found in the research.
