Nowadays, the knowledge-based economy and the growing social needs are challenging the higher education severely, while the level of universities'faculty directly determines the quality of their education outcome, determines their core competitiveness and sustainable development. However, with the full implementation of faculty recruitment system among colleges and universities, the situation is not so satisfactory as too many faculty members still could not develop themselves to the full potential, not fully willing to devote themselves to the education career. This paper is to make an exploration from the perspective of"Psychological contract"."Psychological contract" is a newly emerged concept in recent years in fields of western organizational behavior and human resources management. It refers to the existence of an implicit, unwritten, informal expectation and understanding towards mutual obligation, responsibilities and rights. Good psychological contract relationship has great influences on employees'high sense of loyalty, high emotional inputs and high work initiatives. This paper aims to explore effective ways to improve the faculty management, to promote the healthy development of China's higher education under new circumstances through studying the faculty's psychological contract contents.Combining the implementation of faculty recruitment system in higher education, this paper introduces the main existing problems and deficiencies in faculty management, analyzes the characteristics of universities'faculty as a special group of talents, emphasizes the necessity and importance in introducing theory of"Psychological contract"into faculty management. Based on a general introduction to"Psychological contract"theory, this article adopts methods of case study to help its further exploration. Hundreds of faculty members with various demographic characteristics and from different universities were randomly chosen to help to fill in a well-designed questionnaire. During this process two types of information will be paid particular attention to: the faculty's expectation and understanding towards university organizations'obligations, responsibilities; the faculty's cognition about how university organizations and they themselves fulfill their own obligations respectively. With the data analyses feasible strategies, measures and ways will be proposed after a discovery of the inner relationship among those influential variables on mutual psychological contract.In a word, the university organizations must fully realize and study the faculty's psychological needs and expectations, try to establish a new-style human resource management system, set up a relationship of mutual trust, mutual love, mutual respect and mutual help with the faculty , so as to achieve the realization of common objectives.
