In the light of the latest course theories, the Problem Teaching Model breaks through the restraints of the conventional teaching model and applies more advanced teaching concept to change students'study pattern and to display fully their initiative. The study of the Problem Teaching Model is an endeavor of a better teaching method. This endeavor emphasizes that students find and solve problems in reading by themselves, so as to consequently develop their independence, motivation and creativity with the guidance of teachers.On the basis of explaining the substance of Problem Teaching Model, this thesis introduces the trend of contemporary English reading course teaching, analyzes further the status quo of the domestic reading course teaching in senior middle school and try to break through the restrains of the conventional teaching model and to put into practice the Problem Teaching Model and the English reading theories. In senior English reading teaching, the author applies Problem Teaching Model and leads students to"thought track"of article's writer with questions through the article's purport, trying hard to develop students'thought ability. With personal experience and teaching experiments, the author specially explores the application of Problem Teaching Model in senior English reading teaching and studies its applying manners and practical effects. Besides, in order to arouse senior English teachers'attention to the research and practice of reading course teaching, the thesis has listed specific and precise measures to promote more effectively students'comprehensibility and English reasoning ability.The body is divided into three greatly parts:The first part introduces the substance of Problem Teaching Model. By defining relevant definitions of Problem Teaching Model, it can be regarded as a suit of"Method Theory System", which conforms to the requirement of problem teaching theory and has unique values. According to the analysis of the status quo of the study of Problem Teaching Model, the Problem Teaching Model both home and abroad stresses scientific subjects. All its measures of raising questions and process are applied in teaching scientific subjects. But it is seldom applied in literal subjects, especially in English teaching. Thus, teachers of literal subjects have to apply this teaching model to reform class teaching according the characteristics of their own subjects and to explore an applicable Problem Teaching model.The second part summarizes the relevant theories and status quo of the English reading course teaching in senior middle school. Take into consideration the nature and psychic elements of English read, the author analyzes the international trend of the English reading course teaching and the status quo of the English reading course teaching in senior middle school in our country. In fundamental education, the trouble of English reading teaching is quite serious. The improving of students'reading is decided by teachers'proper reading teaching.The third part explores the ways of effective application of the Problem Teaching Model in senior middle school's English reading course teaching. Firstly, the author approaches the creation of problem circumstances, which mainly concerns about its definition, the principle of its creation and the design of question. Then, the depiction of the implementing process of the Problem Teaching Model in senior middle school's English reading teaching course. The paper also offers as an example an explanatory and practical teaching design for Unit 9 of SEFC Book 2A to make full use of Problem Teaching Model in senior high school teaching of reading comprehension. Finally, conclusion is succeeded in obtaining from the analysis of the status in teaching test. In conclusion, the Problem Teaching Model applying in senior middle school's English reading course teaching conforms to the requirement of our epoch, to the thinking features of senior middle school students and to the requirement of the latest course theories and modern reading course teaching theories.The creativity of this thesis is mainly embodied in the following aspects. First, this thesis is about Problem Teaching Model from the point of view in senior middle school's English reading teaching course. It's seldom that Problem Teaching Model is put into practice pointedly and thorough. Second, it's comparatively scattered and systemless that the study about teaching mode taking English as foreign language teaching course. The concrete study is extremely benefit to enrich middle school's foreign language teaching course theories and reinforce English as foreign language teaching practice. Thus, the study must be explored and practiced about Problem Teaching Model applying in senior English reading teaching.
