Reading teaching comes first in the process of Chinese teaching and how to improve the quality and efficiency is the stickest problem that waits to deal with. This paper centers on how to solve the very problem in the hope of providing assistance and reference to vast numbers of educational workers. So, we should firstly learn the true situation by making surveys and find out the problems existing in our current Chinese teaching and the factors affecting students'self-determined learning according to the principles of reading and the relative thoeries in education. The second part of this article discusses self-determined learning from the constructivism. In the third part, it states the advantages of carrying out the self-determined learning in middle school Chinese teaching. Meanwhile, it puts forwads the teaching prociedures of reading education in class (including guiding students'setting a study goal, eliciting their learning motivation and directing their self-determined learning, self-evaluation and self-expanding) and how to put the guidance stategies into effact in each prociedure. I hope this article can help us implement developing students'self-determined learning in reading education, guarantee to improve the efficiency of learning and teaching and give vast numbers of educational workers some assistance and reference.
