Teacher certification system plays an important role in promoting the quality ofteachers and teacher's professionalization. Nation Board for Professionalization TeachingStandards (NBPTS) and American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence(ABCTE) are two important teacher certification organizations, and have significanteffect on teacher certification system in the U.S. However, they have a lot of differencebetween themselves, such as the ideas, standards, and process of certification. Thus, theyrepresent respectively to the two entirely different prospect of teacher education. Acomparison of the two organizations is therefore boasting with high-profile significancefor good inquiry into the U.S. teacher certification system's prospect as well as the setupof China's teacher certification.This thesis reviews at the first place over the respective foundation background.ideas standards and process of certification of NBPTS and ABCTE. It then examines thetwo organizations' feature in certification, compares comprehensively the differentiationsand causes regarding to the issues of NBPTS and ABCTE. Subsequently, this thesispresents the reflection about the certification systems of NBPTS and ABCTE upon theconstruction of China's teacher certification system.
