Howard Gardner is a well-known developmental psychologist and educator. He isfamous for the Theory of Multiple Intelligences, but nearly no one knows his educationalthought based on this theory. Many schools abroad and millions of educators induce histheory to guide education and teaching reform, some succeeded, the other deviated thedirection. The main reason is that people can't understand his educational thought clearly.A new Curriculum Reform based Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences is onthe up in china. Studying Howard Gardner's educational thought systematically willcontribute to fill up the history of foreign education's blank, and provide thought for theCurriculum Reform of china, too.This paper induces cultural heritage analyzing method to study Howard Gardner'seducational thought, recalls all his life and activities of education reform he attended,analyzes the background and theories foundation of his education thought, probes into hiseducation thought, and then makes a simple evaluation to his education thought. HowardGardner made "teaching for understanding" as goal of education, and requested to buildup a personal center school. He hoped the school carry on intelligence valuation for eachstudent, provide characteristic curriculum system by the result of intelligence valuation,and adopt characteristic teaching mode and teaching evaluation.
