Since the strategious transmission of education in 21st century'is based on a brand-new theory of"learning", it is safe to say that the current world is confronted with a"revolution of learning". The traditional education notions, teaching methods and learning modes will be replaced by the new ones which respect learners'autonomy, motivate learners'creativity, develop learner's potentials and foster the interaction and cooperation between learners. Focused on the development of the creativity and practical ability of students, the reforms of education of Chinese intend to transform the students from"the one who receives the knowledge passively"to"the discoverer who can learn automatically and actively", therefore, the students can apply the creative thinking patterns to the learning of Chinese by the way of discovery. Based on these reforms, the Discovery Learning Theory was introduced to China and became popular with the education of Chinese. Introduced by Bruner, the Discovery Learning Theory proved to be a good way to engage students to a creative thinking through years'practice. Based on the introduction of concept and characteristics of Discovery Learning Theory, this thesis discusses its application to the Chinese education in junior middle schools along with its problems, and offers some suggestions to the solution of the problems. Finally, this thesis introduced the basic mode of Discovery Learning theory in Chinese education in junior middle school and its adaptation with the help of some case studies.
