Novel is one of the most popular literary styles among the community .Drawing upon the advantages of its unique genre, it have an important position in literature. Today, the humanity has regressed in the language education, with the increase of the proportion of literature in high school teaching materials, many outstanding novels have become a part of the textbooks. The teaching and learning of novels has naturally become an important component of high school language teaching and learning. However, The literary theories raised in contemporary such as educational theory of constructivism, acceptance aesthetic, narrative, etc exposed many shortcomings of the teaching and learning of novels, which has guided by traditional educational theories and the traditional literary theories. Therefore, it is necessary to reform it, make it conform to the developments of contemporary education theories and literary theories. And developing a new situation of the high school teaching and learning of novels.This paper has researched the issue deeply according such a turn as why to reform, based on what to reform and how to reform. Apart from Introduction and conclusion, this paper is divided into four chapters. Chapter 1 is on the reasons of the reform: First, the questions of the high school teaching and learning of novels; second, the reform of the textbooks of high school language teaching. Chapter 2 presents the theoretical basis for reform. The guidance or inspirations of the educational theory of constructivism, accepted aesthetic and narrative to high school teaching and learning of novels have been discussed briefly. Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 stats how to reform. Chapter 3 is on the reform of content of the teaching and learning, which want to answer the question that what to teach. From the perspective of the reform, a novel detailing the content of teaching and learning of novels has been discussed copiously, that is the three lays of teaching and learning of novels: the stories, the forms and the theme of novels. Chapter 4 is on the reform of the implementation of the education, which want to answer the question how to teach. Several urgent but neglected easily key links have been chosen to discuss. These key links are the setting of the goals of teaching and learning, the setting of the keys of teaching and learning, the choice of teaching methods, and the construction of the classroom.
