British postgraduate education have experienced four stages: high degree education time of medieval ages(approximately the 13th century-1860), the formation and development of degree and postgraduate education(about 1860-1950), the rapid development period of degree and postgraduate education(about 1950-1980), period of steady development of degree and postgraduate education(from 1980 to now).At present, the graduate educational targets of various types university are not the same, and the degree courses forms are flexible and diverse, they attach great importance to the training of graduate students'research capabilities, and attach importance to associate to train the graduate students'practices capabilities at work with the industrial sector, enterprises and government research institutions, and its internationalization process also gradually accelerate. After the Second World War, as economic and social development, the tension of educational outlay, taught masters bring in Britain, and have become the fastest growing areas of the British postgraduate education, moreover, it occupies an important position in the postgraduate education of Britain. It arising from the background that the needs of application-oriented person rapid increase, to train high-level, application-oriented person as their goal, relaxed entry requirements, the degree in setting up is flexible and training time is short, funding for training is less, curriculum establishment is rich, specialized, mechanisms for evaluating diverse, the scope of the work is broad, and the range is expand, these characteristics above make it to the postgraduate education of Britain and the British economy development is of great significance. It updates the system of British graduate education, changes the distribution of resources of British postgraduate education, impacts on the series of ideas of postgraduate education in Britain, balances the distribution of postgraduate education in various university, raises the level of autonomy in British universities, catalyses for the expansion and application of knowledge, advances the optimized combination of the government's resources, promotes the enhancement of productivity. It also gives our postgraduate education a lot of inspiration, in this situation in our country that classification is not clear in my postgraduate degree education, goal is not clear, enrollment system is imperfect, length of schooling is too single, training mode lacks diversity, curriculum is not flexible, measuring mechanism is not strictly. Our postgraduate education should consummate degree classification system, adjust training goal, update and establish flexible enrollment system, appropriate to shorten the length of schooling, increase training programs, set up diversified curriculum, establish scientific and rigorous measurement mechanisms.
