At the turn of the 21st century, the pattern transition of Chinese society entered a new stage when changing from the traditional society to a modernized one. Rapid development of the economy results in an increasing demand on the variety of physical lifestyles, ranging from the individuals, communities to the society as a whole. With its unique advantage, PE in urban communities is popular and drawing the attention of the physical administration. Serving as an integral part of the urban physical fitness work, it plays an active role in the promotion of physical fitness nationwide program.The subjects of this paper include the members of Physical Education Bureau of Hangzhou City, community coaches and residents of the 3 districts: Shangcheng (uptown), Jianggan (Riverfront) and Xihu (West Lake).Research methods include: documents and texts,field interviews, questionnaire,results analysis and data processingThe survey reveals the problems as follows:1. The lack of investment and funding in the community physical activities2. The scarcity of related human resources and stadiums3. The shortage of sports instructors in communitiesThis paper ends with some suggestions on the improvement of the physical education in urban communities in Huangzhou.
