At the present time, science and technology are advancing rapidly, the knowledge-based economy is flourishing and the competition of national strength is becoming gradually fierce. It's necessary for the new era and the development of Chinese market economy to train multiple talents with broad view, stable foundation, strong ability, high quality, especially with innovative spirit and practical ability. And it is the general trends for Chinese higher education reform and development to deepen and perfect the credit system. To carry out flexible credit system is of great realistic value for the improvement of teaching quality, the full use of teaching resources, the development of students'personality and for fostering the multiple talents with innovative spirit and practical ability.The research is composed of the following parts. First, based on the review of the context of credit system and the features of Chinese higher education, it discusses the value and feasibility of Chinese universities credit system innovation. Second, with the help of manpower capital theory, productivity theory and core ability theory in modern management, it deeply analyzes the theoretical ground of credit system reform in the view of social needs. Third, it carries out extensive survey on the credit system reform of Hunan University which is very useful for further study. Fourth, taking the current credit system reform in Hunan University as a case, it argues the advantages and disadvantages of credit system reform from the perspectives of talents cultivation model, the mechanism of teaching management, teaching evaluation, educational resources administration and information technology. Finally, in terms of the situation of Hunan University, it makes several suggestions on the further improvement of credit system reform, which include shifting the educational idea, optimizing the teaching resources allocation, guaranteeing the teaching quality, perfecting the administrative system, carrying out corresponding reform measure.On the ground of the survey of the condition of China and Hunan University, this study poses several new ideas on teaching management reform which has certain theoretical and practical worth for credit system reform.
