Moral education is an extremely important link in the educationalchain and usually is considered to be the first priority and foundation ofeducation, The Course on Ideological Politics in high schools, which isspecially intended for students to get educated in terms of IdeologicalPolitics, serves as the main medium of moral education. At present,nevertheless, owing to the negative influences of market-orientedeconomy and internalization, the yoke of the examination-orientededucation system, as well as the fact that the text book of the Course onIdeological Politics in itself is out-of-date, a trend, that is, the function ofmoral education is gradually weakening, comes into being. To thisphenomenon, much importance should be attached from the academiccircle. Exactly on the basis of the present situation, I bring out this paper.The paper is divided into three parts. Chapter one summarizes thefunction of the moral education of the Course on Ideological Politics inhigh schools, together with the manifestation of its weakening. This partplays the role of the foundation stone in this research. The paper startswith the defining the conception of function, then, range upon range, goesdeep into analyzing the main function of the Course on IdeologicalPolitics in high schools and its morally educational function, and at lastprovides an analysis of the three manifestation of the weakening.Chapter two investigates the main reasons that contribute to thetrend of the weakening of the function of moral education in the Courseon the Thought and Politics in high schools, which is the difficult point ofthe essay. The reasons are mainly generalized as the following four: oneis the utilitarian tendency of the Course on the Thought and Politics inhigh schools under the pressure of the examination-oriented education,another is the double effects of the socialist market-oriented economy onthe morally educational function of the Course; next one is the negative influences of the Internet on the moral function; the last one is the factthat the contents and methods of the Course are out-of-date.Chapter three probes into the measures used to strengthen thefunction of the moral education in the Course on the Ideological Politicsin high schools. The part serves as the core of this paper, in which fourright remedial steps are proposed to correct the shortcoming, that is, theweakening of the morally educational function. The first one is to put theability-oriented education into practice at a full-scale in high schools,really placing the moral education the first priority. The second one is totake advantage and prevent the harm of the double influences of thesocialist market-oriented economy. The third one is to take the Internet asa tool and make full use of its powerful public opinion. In this way, wemake the Internet a strong and forceful weapon to seize the highest pointof moral education; The fourth one is to reform the Course on theIdeological Politics in high schools and optimize its morally educationalmanners and methods.
