With the holding of a series of international comprehensive matches and international, intercontinental high-level matches such as the winter Asian Games of 2007,2008 summer Olympics Games and 2010 winter Olympics Games, whether China competitive sports could keep the brilliant of 2004 Summer Olympics or not, which decided by the enforcement of "Olympics strategy" and "Whole-nation System", also depend on the effort of athletes. But with the replacement of the new for the old, the life and working of athletics has been concerned by the society, also it is the key factor that influence on stability of reserve athletes in China competitive sports. So research on the retired career management is a very important links of competitive sports talents development and management, but also it will have certain practical significances to keep and enhance sustainable development of competitive sports in our country.Career management is a new discipline separated from human resources management in recent ten years, and can be derived from America and other European countries in the seventies of the 20t" century. Nowadays it is also a main trend in human resources management. In recent years, career management has become one of the hottest problems in the theory of human resources management. The most research is based on enterprises and employees, not the retired athletes.With the method of documents and materials, expert interview and questionnaire, etc. the article take the management of retired athletes in Hunan province for example and research on the career management of retired athlete. On the premise of explaining those basic concepts in career management, the thesis research on the career management concept of retired athlete, and then design a career management model of retired athlete in Hunan province based on summing up and analyzing the current situation and influencing factors of the retired athlete management, furthermore, how to implement this mode and corresponding countermeasure also has been explained.The research suggested:The retired athlete career management means athlete and organization take a series of measures to design career and enhance career development when the athlete is retired. There are many questions on retired athlete management in Hunan province such as the employment document has not been implemented efficiently; the function of existing sports administrative is imperfect and so on. it points out career management is an important influencing factor. The career management model of retired athlete in Hunan province is "the retired athlete career management under the organization support". the government policy, sports organization and system should support them employ. In order to implement the career management model of retired athlete in Hunan province, our government should establish retired athlete employment training system, the employment protection policy as well as the Hunan Province sports human resources information management system; establish and perfect athlete social security system, display of education system positive role and make the best of society's education resources, enlarge society's propaganda, simultaneously strengthening of career instruction, promote the athlete ability of occupation development, cultivate the athlete healthy psychology.
