"The Development strategy of Degrees and Graduate Education in China (2002-2010)" (trial edition) clearly defined that our working policy for graduate educate is' deepened reform, positive development; classified instruction, enhanced construction; valued innovation, improved quality, specially the structural adjustment for graduate education. "The tenth 'Five-year' Plan for national economy and social development" also proposed that "For higher education, we should put priority on quality and the optimized structure, develop the regular or specialized undergraduate and graduate education with steady steps as well as improve the quality of high-leveled talented person ". Our graduate education has trained large quantities of high-leveled special talented students, and has made historical contribution for our country' s modernization. The graduate education structure in China is along with political, the economical, the cultural development. At the basis of the current research results, this article attempts to make a synthetic study on our graduate educational structure in China. It altogether is divided into four chapters"The first chapter is an introduction to the significance of the selected topic, the present research situation, summary of some related references and the main research technique, and also carries on the definition of the main concept.The second chapter, taking the establishment of the new China as the historical demarcation, reviews the evolution course of our country' s over-100-year-old graduate educational structure from eight stages, including the seed stage, the newly established stage, the preliminary standardized stage, the initial stage, the standstill-stage, restored stage, mature stage as well as quick develop stage.The third chapter makes an in-depth analysis on the present situation ofour country' s graduate educational structure" an integrated degree level structure with an unreasonable proportion; a clear definition of academic degree and specialized degree with an uneven proportion; a coexistence of both full-time and non-full-time study with a certain proportion on the non- full-time graduate; an unbalanced discipline specialized structure--- attaching importance to technical instead of humanities with a lack of the characteristic and the difference in the same level; a lose in balance of regional distribution with the degree awards concentrating to the a few research university.The fourth chapter discusses the adjustment to our country' s graduate educational structure. It proposes that we must vigorously develop Master' s education and moderately develop Doctor' s education; vigorously develop the education for specialized-degree and the non- full-time graduate student; Depending on make a high-level research university to develop an educational base for undergraduates; positively adjusts the region lay-out, strengthens the graduate education in western area, etc.
