Universitization of teacher education is the mainstream of current teacher education reform in the world. The British government has continually reformed teacher education since 1980s, and the partnership between university and school has become the main pattern. It is the successful experience of universitization of teacher education reform in the U.K. that boasts great referential value for China's current teacher education reform.The British policy of universitization of teacher education had originated from the Day Training College in the late 19th century. The British government established Area Teacher Organizations after the Second World War, which formed the university monopoly situation in teacher education. The British government initiated the organizational adjustment over university-based teacher education in the early 1970s. Since 1980s, the British government has been pushing the reform of universitization of teacher education by adopting a series of laws and regulations.At present, the pattern of universitization of teacher education has been established in the U.K... The main policy includes following aspects: sets up various teacher entrance and training routes, awards professional certification to teacher providers, enhances the Qualify Teacher Standards continually and evaluates teacher providers' work regularly. These policies achieved various results, such that the responsibility between university and school has become clearly, the scale of teacher education has been enlarged, the quality of teacher education has been improved and the occupation attraction as a teacher has boost up.In the light of the successful experiences of universitization of teacher education reform in the U.K., the current teacher education reform in China should enhance the macro adjustment and control over the distribution of teacher education resource, set up various routes of teacher entrance, and establish a standard system of teacher education which ranges from teacher provider standard to curriculum standard then to competence standard. In addition, it is crucial to transform teacher training model, strengthen the collaboration between university and school and build the quality evaluation system of teacher education as well.
